Duskmourn Art Showcase
Magic's latest set Duskmourn: House of Horrors features a ton of incredible new artwork themed around 70's - 90's horror / slasher films. While it's always fun to go over new card mechanics and legendary creatures, checking out the art of each new expansion can be just as exciting, especially if it's a theme you're particularly into. For me personally, Duskmourn is the perfect blend of weird monsters, creepy environments, and gorgeous full art cards. The twisted artistic flavor for this Fall release perfectly nails the horror themes a plane like Duskmourn should have. So without further ado, let's get into some of the art!
Overlords & Glimmers
The new "overlord" cycle of mythic rares each feature some incredibly terrifying monsters. These avatar horrors all have some stunning full art variations as well, with some of my personal favorite art in the set in Overlord of the Balemurk and Overlord of the Boilerbilges.
Similarly to the overlord cycle, this cycle of Glimmer creatures feature some fantastic art on both the regular versions and their full art counterparts. Unlike the overlords however, these little guys are not nearly as dark and twisted.
Double Exposure Cards
The alternate art versions for these five legendary creature cards all feature a unique art style and color theme that make them really stand out. These cards were set out to celebrate classic horror photography, and I'd say they captured that style perfectly.
Lands
The basic land arts in this set are all incredibly stylish, with the full art variants really standing out. Although not quite as eye catching, the regular border basics also feature some stunning environmental artwork. This swamp in particular is an instant favorite for me.
The full art variants of the "verge" land cycle from this set all look fantastic. Gloomlake Verge stands out to me, but each of these cards really capture the feel of a plane full of horror.
Like the rest of the lands from this set, this ten card cycle of common lands highlights some haunting visuals and horrifying locations. Plus, the new art for Terramorphic Expanse is maybe the best art the card has ever had.
Leylines
Reflection Full Arts
These full arts all show off their horrific nightmare creatures as a reflection before they claim their prey. This style fits Duskmourn so perfectly, I only wish they included a white rare to really finish off the cycle.
Rooms
Rooms are a brand new variant of enchantment introduced in Duskmourn. These horizontal arts all show two different room scenes connected through the middle of their borders. Grand Entryway // Elegant Rotunda is probably my favorite of these arts, but they all stand out just by how creatively they connect the two rooms together.
Misc Cool Art
This set is absolutely full to the brim of incredible artwork highlighting the horrifying atmosphere of Duskmourn. To close out I wanted to show off a few more terrifying artworks that stood out to me personally. I hope everyone enoys Duskmourn once it's fully released, happy haunting!
